Popular Styles of Container Gardens

Container gardens are a very popular choice for gardeners and those wishing to plant their own vegetables, herbs, and flowers. Along with the opportunity for saving money on the ever-rising prices of fresh vegetables, container gardens also give you the chance to add variety to your landscape. Choosing what type of container you wish to use in your garden can depend on your style and the type of produce you wish to grow.

Raised Beds

Raised beds are very popular because they are not only aesthetically pleasing but they also keep gardeners from having to bend down so far to water their plants and pick their vegetation. Solid wood-raised beds provide wonderful water retention. You can also repurpose old crates or other containers and turn them into gardening beds. Be sure if you choose this option to line it with a water-resisting material such as plastic.

Old Tires

If you are able to get your hands on old tractor tires or even old vehicle tires if you are opting for something smaller, they make great container gardens. Going with the popular rustic theme, tires are easy to plant in and still provide a little lift. Popular plants that are being grown in tires are tomatoes and flowers. Not to mention this is a wonderful way to repurpose old tires.

Containers, Pots, and Baskets

Any type of container, pot, or basket can be used as a container garden. Again, it just depends on what you are planning to grow in it and what matches the theme of your yard. Some of the more popular and eye-pleasing ones are metal containers, terra-cotta pots, and stone pots. However, self-water plastic pots and baskets do just the trick and are a much more affordable option.

Grow Bag Garden

Grow bags are a great choice if you have a small space and are looking to grow a variety of plants and vegetables. They are made of a lightweight material which makes them easy to move around, and they are also able to be reused year-to-year. This is a great option if you only have a balcony.
